During chapter V we meet Huck’s dad.  His father is a rather brash man. I mean the first time we see him, he’s creeping in Huck’s bedroom. He accuses Huck of trying to be smarter than him, and tells Huck to give him the money.  And everybody knows, all he wants the money for is to get wasted! He’s a greedy, crooked, low down, no good man. What man in his right mind would want worse for his children for himself?

  1. Hucks dad is indeed just after Hucks money and doesn't try very hard to get on his good side.

  2. I agree that Huck's dad is a sort of jerk, but maybe just the way he was raised as a kid, maybe his father wanted him to be lower then he was. But that still doesn't explain how bad he's been treating Huck, you would think he might have a little more common sense then that, but then again he is a major drunk who is rarely sober.

  3. I for sure agree with your belief that what Pap is doing is selfish and it personally sickens me. My thinking about this whole situation of Pap taking Huck's money for himself is literally, in what right mind would it ever be okay to take money from your child who you haven't even cared enough to take care of and only see once in a long while.

  4. I agree with you, Hucks dad is really selfish and only uses his money to get drunk and it may infer that he was raised the same way. It could be that is all he knows or grew up around.
