Huck Finn's relationship with his father is almost non-existent. This causes quite a rift in the story of Huck's life, a rift that should be filled with some type of parental figure. But due to a lack of adult influence in Huck's life, there is a conflict within him that not many can understand unless they have experienced what he has. I have not experienced the anger and abuse he has, but I have felt the neglect and absence of a parent.
There is a conflict within Huck that influences conflict in his everyday life. He has grown without the maturity of a parental figure, a figure that helps decide right from wrong, good from bad. Parents are moral compasses in the beginning of a child's life, and without that compass, Huck has to instill maturity and morality within himself, separating him from other children his age. While his friends are able to imagine magical creatures and mythical beings, he is only able to see things for that they are. He understands life beyond what any of his pupils could comprehend, causing more conflict within and without.
