As we have read this novel Huck has shown us his abilities. He has shown us that he is mature in ways that would make him smarter in the society of our generation. He is very smart and understands the hardships of life at his young age. Huck smoking his pipe is a great example of him being mature. He acts like an adult and even lives on his own on an island. Huck running away also showed him becoming an adult. Some people would say that running away is mature but in this case it is not. he wanted to live on his own and he wanted the freedom and the thrill of living on his own just as every kid in society today.
Huck is mature even more so than most adults around him for he has done something they would never do and that is look past race to see a good friend which Huck has found in Jim.
