Interestingly, though Huck is in a clearly abusive relationship with his Pap, he doesn't seem to truly resent Pap. He is content to simply coexist with his father, as long as he doesn't feel too threatened. Huck is willing to stay with his abusive father because he enjoys the simple life he provides for him. Huck would rather lay around, hunt, and live life on his own terms than be told what do to by Widow Douglass. Even though Huck gets beat by his dad he would still rather stay with him than Widow Douglass.
