In chapter ten, Jim told Huck that when you kill a snake, its mate will come after you and kill you. After research I found out that this is not true. Snakes do not have the memory to remember the ones who have killed their friends or family. Nor do they have camaraderie for their pair. Many have blamed Bollywood, the Hollywood version in India, for this myth in movies.

Quote The_Raven Nevermore

I was actually unsure about this topic. The site you linked was actually very informative.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this piece of information! I was curious to know if it was true or not, but I just didn't take the time to research it. This is good to know for future reference, though I hope that I never have to deal with any poisonous snakes, or any snakes at all, for that matter.
ReplyDeleteYou are incorrect it did not say this in the book it said "the mate will come and curl up next to the dead snake" nowhere in the book did it say its mate would come after you and kill you.
ReplyDeleteJim explains in the book that it was a MYTH that if you kill a snake its mate would come after you. Its the Myth that The_Raven used. The_Raven used the context clues.
ReplyDelete@_firecracker_711_ Thank you for understanding what I was meaning. Sorry @YOLOSWAGHASHTAG420 I didn't word it for you to understand this. Oh and Thanks @Joe Biden
ReplyDeleteOkay so basically this is a story, a fiction story. Its filled with superstition, so why would the fact of a writer saying that a snakes mate is gonna get you, matter on it being true or misleading. The story it self is all fabrication. Not that i guess it matters, all in all. but just a thought huh? Thanks for the link by the way i learned a few things.
