Huck's Father

In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Huckleberry Finn is a young boy who has had to mature faster then most kids his age. His father is abusive and usually drunk. his father is always going away for long periods of time and periodically returning. At the point in time where Huck is at the conclusion that he is never coming back he returns. When his father returns he finds out that Ms. Douglas ,a widow, has taken in Huckleberry Finn. Her sister miss Watson moved in with her and began to school him. His father isn't happy that his son is getting an education. I don't get it why would someone be mad that their kid is getting an education, especially a free education. I assume that it could be that his son might amount to something more then he did. I guess some parents don't like seeing their children be smart and better then them.

  1. I personally think that Huck’s Father is crazy. For not allowing his son to read or write, just because he doesn’t want Huck to be smarted then his father. And Huck is already smarter than his father anyways.

  2. Huck's father is reason behind him having to mature at a more rapid pace than his peers and I certainly don't blame him for wanting to get away. I hate that his father doesn't want Huck to do anything that will better himself in fear that he'll get farther in life than he ever did. It's wrong and selfish.

  3. Although pap seems to be an influence to Huck to be more independent, I don't think it's right for him to not want Huck to go to school and become educated. It's selfish and immature of pap to wish of such a thing.
