In chapter six Pap gets drunk and chases Huck around saying he is the Angel of Death. Pap claims that he will kill him so he can't come back anymore. It makes one wonder if he has "seen" the Angel of Death before. According the the history of the Angel of Death, When one "sees" the Angel, they are having close encounters with dying and after so many sightings one becomes afraid of death, which is called thanataphobia. Different religions have different views of the Angel of Death. Some religions view him as an evil, grim, dark angel with tethered wings and a scythe. Others view him as the transporter to take your soul after you die and dispose of it where you truly belong in the afterlife.

I agree. If Pap is talking much of the angle of death then he may have seen him before. He may have been so drunk that night that he may believed that the angle of death was really chasing him around the house as he was chasing Huck. This really makes you think.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if pap first time seeing the angle of death was in his childhood or somehow evolved his parents for a person most of the time when treated badly by parent do one of two things. They become like the parent or be the opposite and run away from them mentally or physically.
